Aged Care Working Party WELCOME TO NEW members of the Aged Care Working Party! The recent call for Expressions of Interest to fill a vacancy on the Aged Care Working Party has resulted in two new appointments. As such, we welcome Pamela and Jill to the working party! Pamela Windram With over ten years’ experience as a speech pathologist, Pamela has worked in the focus of this is the upskilling of staff in the homes, providing them with the knowledge and strategies to provide the best possible care to residents. Pamela provides Speech Pathology services to 14 WA homes and oversees services to ten NSW homes. In addition to the dysphagia management Pamela is strongly committed to finding efficient ways to provide communication assistance to the residents in aged care homes. Pamela is extremely interested in the advancement of speech pathology services in both the residential aged care setting, and in the home setting, and believes strongly that there should be equitable access to speech pathology services. Pamela believes there should be clarity surrounding the funding of these services aged care sector for over five years. Pamela primarily provides assessment diagnosis and management of residents in aged care homes with complex swallowing difficulties. A major

Jill graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Speech Pathology) from La Trobe University in 1988 and completed her PhD in 1995 at La Trobe University. In her 30 years of professional experience, she has worked across acute hospital and subacute settings before commencing her own private practice in residential aged care

settings. Additionally, she was employed at La Trobe University as a tutor, lecturer, researcher and clinical educator over a period of 15 years From its beginnings in 1998, Jill has grown her business while watching and adapting to changes in the aged care sector. As aged care became corporatised, her business model changed and now her practice employs 30 staff, provides a service to over 400 residential aged care facilities around Australia as well as an extensive National home-based service. Jill aims to inspire all her staff with her passion for aged care and is committed to improving the safety and quality of life for all older people living both in residential aged care and in their homes in the community.
