Paediatric speech pathology in Alice Springs

Speech pathologists from the Alice Springs Children’s Development Team are excited to share about the diverse work we have engaged in during 2021. Our team is comprised of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists, a therapy assistant and an administration officer. We work with families, communities, services and organisations in Alice Springs and surrounding Central Australia and Barkley regions. We are thrilled to have returned to providing services to remote communities again, since COVID-19 restrictions were lifted in the second half of 2020. In addition to working with children and their families in urban and remote settings as part of our existing service delivery models, this year we are proud to have delivered a variety of community engagement and education events. These events have provided the opportunity for speech pathologists to raise awareness of our role, strengthen our relationships and build capacity of families and organisations. Healthy Children’s Day Healthy Children’s Day was held at Larapinta Valley Town Camp in April which was organised through the Tangentyere Early Childhood Education Program. This day was a wonderful opportunity for us to get to know the children living in Larapinta Valley, and their families,
