"Watch your language!" they said to me, I've watched and listened and now I'm starting to see:
Equally good for dysarthrias or poor speech clarity
Language is more than words, Language is the roar of the seas, the song of the birds, Language evolves over time and changes from place to place, Language can speak volumes without words and only the expression on someone's face, Language can begin with a mother hearing her baby's first cry, Fast forward a lifetime and it can end with a sad or bittersweet goodbye, Language can be as simple as a hello or hi, Or as complex as the tallest mountain is high in the sky. Language surrounds each and every one, Meaning is everywhere - open to interpret, At times we must search hard - for the meaning beneath the surface, "That's just semantics" but semantics paves the way, Without content and meaning, what is there left to say? If content and meaning are important - then they must be sent securely, Pragmatics is key – even the best intended messages can be received poorly, It’s not just what you say but how you say it, that's for sure, It can make all the difference as to whether the message is heard, rejected or ignored, And not to mention how to interpret all these rules and coding, How do people communicate every day without their brains exploding?! Conversations, books, music, media and more, Language can spread hatred like disease as well as be the only vehicle for the cure. Language is powerful, fragile and forever changing over time, Language is more than any words can ever say in a rhyme, Language defines itself and shapes our very thoughts and minds, Language extends across all contexts of every kind, Language can be learned, and it can be lost, Language is both the currency and the commodity with greatest cost. Words matter - this much I know, They can tear someone down or help them grow, Whether spoken or written, gestured or sung,
