CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT NEWS
The Association is also delighted to announce that Dr Caroline Bowen will be presenting workshops for SPA across a number of states in 2014 …
Known throughout the SLP profession for her www.speech-language-therapy.com website, Caroline Bowen PhD has practiced in Australia as a clinical speech-language pathologist for over 40 years. She is an Honorary Associate in Linguistics at Macquarie University in Australia and an Honorary Research Fellow in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa. Tending to live out of a suitcase, her current workload comprises research, writing and constructing and presenting Continuing Professional Development events: nationally around Australia and internationally in a dozen or more countries. Her professional expertise is in children’s speech sound disorders and she is intensely interested in the part families can play in intervention.
Dr Bowen has announced that 2014 will be her last year for presenting workshops in Australia, so watch out for these events to open for online registration as they sell out fast and there won’t be repeats!

On a scale of 1–5 (where 5 = excellent), both the average ‘overall rating’ of the events and the average ‘quality of the presentation’ speaker rating = 4.5.
• The National Tour was well attended with a total of nearly 300 people participating in the workshops which ran in all eight Branches, with nearly all workshops being sold out. • The traveller’s incentive was taken up on 252 registrations (which is the same as last year’s uptake), with the highest uptake being for CPD events in NSW and in Victoria. 2013 CPD Events Library in summary: • There were over 200 library loans for 2013. • The highest number of loans was to metropolitan members, followed by loans to rural and remote members, and then overseas members.
