We are especially looking for members with experience working with children from birth to three years and Indigenous communities to shortlist and judge our new Book of the Year category. Nomination and judging criteria for the new award are available from the website, or email the address below further information. I f you are interested in judging SPA’s 2014 Book of the Year Awards, please email jwood@ speechpathologyaustralia.org.au and include: • your name • postal address • contact number • category interested in judging (one only) • brief description of why you would be a good judge
Seeking Judges Do you have: • an interest in children’s language and literature; some paediatric experience (this may be through work or family experiences); the time to devote several hours over June – August to read and critique (approximately 12) books that have been shortlisted; and • an ability to work to strict timeframes? If you answered yes to all of these questions, we would love to have you on the SPA Book of the Year judging panel in 2014! We are seeking eight judges for each award category (birth to 3 years, 3 to 5 years, 5 to 8 years, 8 to 10 years and Indigenous Children), these judges to be drawn from all states. Judges will be asked to read and critique books according to a pre-prepared judging template. Please note: books will be donated to worthy organisations at the end of the year. • •
Healthy Practice Conference 2014 - Program
Day one of the program will focus on conference- style presentations and day two will provide a range of workshops for delegates to attend. Presentation and workshop topics will be varied and focus on private practice business development in- cluding: • Structuring a healthcare practice for growth • Risk management essentials • Succession planning • Financial planning 101 • Running a practice cost effectively • e-Health • Branding, marketing and social media • Key performance indicators for private practice • Managing employees, salary and contracts A conference dinner will be held on Friday evening at the National Portrait Gallery and will provide delegates an opportunity to network and hear from motivational healthy speaker and ex-AFL star Mark Bunn.
Closing date for expressions of interest for judging: 16 April .
