Speak Out June 2019

The 2019 Joint Conference in Brisbane was a great success. Top left: Delegates were welcomed to the three day conference. The Speech Pathology Australia stand in the trade hall was busy with staff fielding many questions from current and prospective members.

Thank you to those who took the time to provide feedback via the conference survey on the app. We look forward to analysing the feedback to reflect on this conference as well as inform the planning of future conferences. The lucky member, who completed the survey and won a complimentary registration for the 2020 National Conference in Darwin, will be announced in Conference eNews and August Speak Out . The August 2019 Issue of Speak Out will include the full “wrap up” of the 2019 Joint Conference Engaging Collaborating Empowering. We look forward to telling you more about it then.

On behalf of the Conference Planning Committee (CPC) we would like to thank all those who participated and contributed in any way to the engaging, collaborating and empowering event at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre. We thank our keynote and invited speakers Professor Marian Brady, Professor Susan Rvachew, Professor David Copland, Professor Suzanne Purdy and Dr Tane Taylor, who connected to the areas embedded within the conference theme of engaging, collaborating and empowering. It was wonderful to see people discussing presentations, gathered around the posters, enjoying the social activities and of course networking. As always, we appreciate the participation of the sponsors and exhibitors who are an important component to the success of the conference. The exhibition hall was a hive of activity during the breaks. We are also very grateful for the capable assistance provided by the friendly and helpful student volunteers who supported Pamela and Colleen with the smooth running of the conference.
