Submissions are sought for oral presentations, lightning oral presentations and posters at the 14th National Allied Health Conference. The conference will explore and discuss factors that contribute to the success of allied health in Australia and this year the event, will be held online for the first time. The deadline for abstracts is 11.59pm AEST 11 April 2021. Visit the conference website for conference themes and abstract submission. CALL FOR ABSTRACTS National Allied Health Conference VIC - within 6 months of transition on 1 Feb 2021, or until your current working with children check expires (providing you have a current working with children check issued prior to 1 Feb 2021). TAS - within three years of 1 Feb 2021, or before your current check expires, whichever is sooner. ACT - within three years of 1 Feb 2021, or before your current check expires, whichever is sooner. NT - within two years of 1 Feb 2021, or before your ochre card expires, whichever is sooner. WA - within two years of 1 Feb 2021, or before your current check expires, whichever is sooner. When do I have to undertake the new worker screening process? This depends on your state or territory, as each has their own transitional arrangements. Please check the Commission website for a full list of acceptable checks for your state. QLD - you do not need to undertake a check until your current blue or yellow card (or exemption) expires. SA - providing you have one of the listed checks prior to 1 Feb 2021, you do not need to undertake a worker screening check until your current check expires.
NSW - Current NDIS providers/workders must have: • “a criminal record check done before 1 July 2018 and within the past four years showing the person did not have a conviction for a prescribed criminal offence within the meaning of the Disability Inclusion Act 2014 (NSW), or • a criminal record check done between 1 July 2018 and before the end of the transition period, and within the past two years showing the person did not have a conviction for a prescribed criminal offence within the meaning of the Disability Inclusion Act 2014 (NSW), and the person has not subsequently had a further criminal record check that had a different result, or • if the person is engaged in a risk assessed role providing supports and services to children, a current New South Wales Working with Children Check that was obtained before the end of the transition period.” New workers or providers must obtain a check through services NSW https://www.service.nsw. gov.au/ndiswc Erin West Professional Practice Advisor
