Tassie libraries Book of the Year During the 2020 summer holidays more than 2000 Tasmanian families received bookmarks and flyers featuring the Speech Pathology Australia Book of the Year winning books. The materials were part of 2000 reading packs distributed by Libraries Tasmania to 46 libraries across the state. The summer reading library program called Libraries Tasmania Read Around was created to encourage children and families to continue their reading and literacy over the school holidays. Packs contained a Read Around map, an activity booklet with a scavenger hunt, stickers, the Book of the Year materials and online reading and educational resources. Book of the Year posters featuring the winning books were also distributed to the Tasmanian libraries. This was in addition to the more than 70 kits sent to libraries across Australia as part of the Book of the Year library campaign. Involvement with Libraries Tasmania is part of the Association’s work to help raise awareness of the role of speech pathologists in children’s language and literacy development and the Book of the Year Awards. Other awareness raising initiatives include the national annual Speechie Library Talks campaign which connects members with their local libraries. SPA shortlisted for Association Forum award Speech Pathology Australia was recently shortlisted by Associations Forum for the Association Achievement of the Year 2020 award. Speech Pathology Australia was shortlisted for its Speech Pathology Week campaign in 2020. The Association Achievement of the Year Award is presented to an association that has made an outstanding achievement in a particular project, area of operations, governance, activity, or initiative. Associations Forum is a commercial, member-based network of 500 associations, charities, clubs, societies, and other not-for-profit organisations, which Speech Pathology Australia is a member.
Libraries all over Tasmania received the Book of the Year bookmarks, flyers and posters.
