IN ORDER TO formulate its official response to the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety, Speech Pathology Australia is seeking input from members. SPA is inviting, comments and case studies from those working with older people across the continuum of care, but especially at home and in residential aged care. The commission will continue to invite submissions from people and organisations until the middle of 2019. The terms of reference for the Royal Commission are wide ranging and can be located here: www.agedcare.royal- commission.gov.au/Pages/Terms-of-reference.aspx There are particular items that relate to the needs of people with disabilities living in residential aged care, people with dementia and access to services in rural and remote area contexts SPA views the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety as an important opportunity to provide feedback on current practices, and advocacy re- access to services for older people with swallowing and communication difficulties.
