I have heard that I can claim for health related supports from Core, is that true? The NDIS has directed that during the "transition" (i.e., while participants may still be part way into or through their current plan) if participants have funds in Core, and particularly if they have no or little funding in Capacity Building, the funds in Core can be used/claimed against for provision of mealtime supports. The below is from the Information sheet about disability related health supports: “If an individual already has a NDIS plan, to access these supports immediately they have two options: They can use the unspent core supports budget in their NDIS plan flexibly to purchase disability-related health supports with the exception of Assistive Technology valued over $1500. Supports can only be purchased this way until an individual has a plan review. At the plan review, the NDIA will discuss their needs and if reasonable and necessary, funds for disability-related health supports will be included in the plan.” The NDIA has produced two specific line items that are for therapy supports, but able to be claimed from Core by providers registered for the relevant therapy support groups. SPA believes that participants need to arrange with their planner or LAC in order for claims to be able to be made against these line items. For providers working with agency managed participants, it may be easier to only enter the support category (Assistance with Daily Life) and not enter the support item when making the service booking.

Members registered for early childhood can make a service booking and claim under: 01_700_0118_1_3 (Line number 144 in the Support Catalogue) Capacity Building Supports For Early Childhood Interventions - Other Therapy. Capacity building supports, including key worker, to assist a child with developmental delay and/or disability and their family/carers in home, community and early childhood education settings, to work towards increased functional independence and social participation. To be delivered by a suitably qualified allied health professional. Members registered for therapeutic supports can claim under: 01_701_0128_1_3 (Line number145 in theSupport Catalogue) Assessment, Recommendation, Therapy And/Or Training (Incl. AT) - Other Therapy Assessment, Recommendation, Therapy And/Or Training (incl. AT). There are also two support items in Consumables which can be used to claim products such as thickener – one where the total cost for the item in the plan is less than $1500 and the other for when it is greater than $1500. 03_040000111_0103_1_1 (Line number 153 in the Support Catalogue) High Cost Disability-Related Health Consumables High cost health-related consumables that the NDIS funds that is due to a person's disability. 03_040000919_0103_1_1 (Line number 154 in the Support Catalogue) Low Cost Disability-Related Health Consumables Low cost health-related consumables that the NDIS funds that is due to a person's disability.
