Speech Pathology Australia is proud to announce the 2019 National Tour speaker is Dr Julie Cichero

We are honoured and exceptionally pleased that Dr Julie Cichero has accepted the invitation to be the National Tour speaker for Speech Pathology Australia in 2019. The Association is privileged to have Julie continue the prestigious and highly regarded line of speech pathologists who have been National Tour speakers. Dr Julie Cichero is a speech pathologist and is internationally recognized for her work in the field of feeding and swallowing disorders. For 27 years Julie has worked clinically and conducted research into dysphagia from infancy to old age in a range of public and private health care settings. Julie is an Adjunct Professor with the School of Clinical Sciences (QUT). She has also been a lecturer and researcher affiliated with The University of Queensland since 1996. Julie is an Honorary Senior Fellow with the School of Pharmacy, and an affiliate with the Schools of Chemical Engineering and Food Technology at UQ, and has provided specialist lectures for Griffith University, and the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. Julie is an invited international speaker (USA, Canada, Spain, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, Hong Kong, China, Japan, Philippines), to speech pathology, dietetic, medical, nursing and pharmacy conferences. Julie is a reviewer for 30 international journals in the diverse fields such as medicine, nursing, speech pathology, allied health, chemical engineering, acoustics, nutrition and food technology. She has published more than 54 journal articles and co-authored four books: Dysphagia: Foundation, Theory and Practice (2006,

Standardisation Initiative (www.iddsi.org) and the Australian IDDSI Project Officer. Dr Cichero will present face-to-face CPD workshops in each Branch and will finish the National Tour program with a 90-minute online CPD live event. The Association is looking forward to Julie sharing her knowledge, experience and clinical skills.
