With the roll out of the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Commission in all states except WA (where it will be rolled out on 1 July 2020) many members are looking for resources to assist them with auditing. Association resources The Association has a range of resources to assist members on the NDIS page of the SPA website. These include: • an example of an incident management policy and system (in the Private Speech Pathology Practice: NDIS Policy and Procedure Manual ), • a guide to writing a risk management policy and what might need to be included, and, • information about your requirements under the NDIS Code of Conduct. The Association also has an in-depth policy and procedure manual on the Private Practice Essentials page of the SPA website. The manual includes templates that relate to the more general aspects of private practice such as: • infection control • complaints and feedback • manual handling. Webisodes There are a range of Webisodes—short videos of ten minutes or less—that involve SPA staff discussing important aspects of auditing. Webisodes include: • #2- How and when do I get audited?
documents and information about: • human resource management • incident management • complaints management • risk management.
There will be further documents released to support allied health professionals undertaking certification and need to complete the core module. Disability Services Consulting (DSC) have produced a free online training module regarding infection control. Members will need to sign up, then complete the module (of around 30 minutes) and will then receive a certificate. The module is aimed at support workers, and is quite accessible, so could be used by members as part of addressing risk management for verification or certification.
