Professional Practice Seminar On 14 and 15 February the first Professional Practice Seminar was held in Canberra. It was a great opportunity for national office staff to hear about local issues impacting members in the ACT. The two workshops that formed part of the seminar gave members practical advice and support that can be directly translated into clinical and professional practice. Professor Pamela Snow discussed pseudoscience and provided practical information about how to appraise research, identify pseudoscience and deal with issues arising from pseudoscience. She also discussed the impact of this on clinical practice and how speech pathologists can talk about a range of potential therapy interventions and the evidence that supports their use with clients, colleagues and other professionals. Dr Jennifer Arnold-Levy provided a practical workshop about how to navigate a range of challenging conversations and then impact positive change with clients, colleagues and other professionals— a valuable skill to add to the clinical toolbox! Covid-19 has impacted this and staff are working on plans to provide members with similar experience.

An overwhelming 77% of members indicated they would prefer there be no change to current item numbers and associated descriptors. This feedback will be provided by the Association to Hicaps and Health Point.
