New Advisory Committee Chair

Cori Williams Senior Advisor Evidence Based Practice and Research to all aspects of strategic and academic planning, policy and personal development, and ensuring that an Aboriginal perspective is at the forefront of all planning. The Speech Pathology Australia Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Advisory Committee met for the first time in 2017. During the first two years of operation, the committee was chaired by Tara Lewis, speech pathologist from Queensland. Tara is known to many for her work in the area of language assessment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children. Tara stepped down from the committee in 2019. We extend our grateful thanks to her for her important contribution in the formative stages of the committee. The Association is pleased to welcome Shane Mohor as the new Chair of the Advisory Committee. Shane is a descendant of the Ngarrindjeri, Rauukan Community in the Coorong in South Australia, and brings a wealth of experience to the committee. During his long career in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health he has worked as a registered nurse and senior executive in government, university and non-government organisations in South Australia and interstate. He currently holds the role of Director of POCHE Indigenous Health at Flinders University. Prior to this he served as CEO of the Aboriginal Health Council of South Australia and as President of the Board of Congress of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Nurses and Midwives (CATSINaM). He has been a member of the Speech Pathology Australia Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Advisory Committee since its inception. Shane is passionate about Aboriginal health, workforce and higher education, with a strong commitment to improving the health and well-being of Aboriginal people. He is very supportive of collaborative research projects that are Aboriginal led, owned and driven, and that will provide positive outcomes for the Aboriginal community. Shane is committed
