Definitions for the FAIR Principles Findable – this refers to having a persistent identifier, e.g. a DOI or a Handle Accessible – this is where, where appropriate, a standard proto- col is used to make the data ‘open’, or available

Interoperable – this is where the data uses language and formats that are known to the community of users and is of an agreed standard Reusable – this is where the integrity of the data needs to be maintained along with the context that it was collected, i.e. the data should stay as rich as it was when it was initially shared.
