SPEECH PATHOLOGY AUSTRALIA STAFF AT NATIONAL OFFICE RECEIVE MANY ENQUIRIES FROM MEMBERS ABOUT A RANGE OF ISSUES. IN THIS, AND FUTURE EDITIONS OF SPEAK OUT, WE WILL TRY AND RESPOND TO SOME COMMON QUESTIONS THAT WE RECEIVE FROM MEMBERS AND PROVIDE LINKS TO SUPPORTS THAT MIGHT BE HELPFUL TO READ.

through the NDIS website. All other registration groups (such as Early Intervention Supports) will need to be applied for under the Commission once it takes over in July. For those in WA, you will still register with the NDIS as normal until July 2020, when the Commission takes over the safeguarding arrangements. Please see the SPA FAQ ‘Registration with the National Quality and Safeguarding Commission’ for more information. Do you need more support and advice about NDIS after reading this document or do you have questions about other issues related to professional practice? Contact SPA’s professional practice team. What do I need to do to register with the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Commission? This answer depends on which state your practice is located. Members in NSW and SA who are already registered are required to hit the formal renew button on the Commission website now. If you have not heard from the Commission and do not have a log in, please call them urgently on 1800 035 544. Those who are looking to register for the first time should apply through the Commission directly. Members in all other states (except WA) will not be under the remit of the Commission until 1 July 2019. If you are already registered, this registration will roll over, so just make sure you check your registration details and that your registration groups and contact details are correct and the Commission will contact you. Please note you do not have to be compliant with the new framework as of 1 July 2019, this is only when your registration will be taken over by the Commission, and the NDIS will no longer be responsible for registration and safeguarding. If you are wanting to register for the first time, up until 1 July 2019 you will only be able to register for therapeutic supports
