Prof Togher spoke on her work in the field of communication disorders after traumatic brain injury (TBI) and the creation of TBI Express, a training program for people with TBI and those they communicate with. Prof Togher also presented recent findings from a clinical trial, including an overview of a new TBI assessment tool, which provides ratings of the conversational discourse of people with brain injury. In addressing this year’s SPWeek theme, Dr Starling spoke on the need for professionals to communicate and work together to support young people with language impairment. Dr Starling has a private practice in Sydney where the majority of her cases are school-aged children and adolescents with language-based learning difficulties. At the presentation, Dr Starling also presented the findings of her postgraduate study.
