Donning and Doffing Procedures Perform the process of donning and doffing PPE correctly to reduce the chance of transmitting infection (see Figure 8). PPE should be safely removed, disposed of into designated waste receptacle (e.g., place in a double-lined bin with a lid or in a sealed bag placed inside a single lined bin) and hand hygiene performed before leaving the client room/or undertaking the next task (see Section 5.7). Before using PPE: • Ensure appropriate training in donning and doffing techniques with PPE is completed (e.g., https://www.health.gov.au/resources/videos/coronavirus-covid-19-wearing-personal-protective- equipment-in-aged-care-video) • Wear appropriate clothing and footwear as per relevant policy • Perform hand hygiene • Cover any cuts or abrasions with a waterproof dressing.
