Does your practice or workplace have a hand hygiene policy, procedure or guideline in line with NHMRC Infection Prevention and Control Guidelines ? Are all staff trained in correct hand hygiene practices? Are the hand hygiene facilities adequate for the tasks being undertaken? Do you encourage clients to question you on your hand hygiene practices? Do you promote and facilitate hand hygiene among your clients? Do the hand hygiene products you are using meet requirements (e.g., Therapeutic Goods Administration - TGA); are they compatible with one another? Are all staff compliant with policies in place, and do you have a way of monitoring this? Is there a designated handwashing sink in client areas? Do staff have access to alcohol based hand hygiene products at the point of use? Do staff have access to hand moisturisers?
